Liverpool should consider signing Martin Odegaard

Martin Odegaard.

Liverpool missed out on signing Martin Odegaard in 2015 when the Norwegian decided to sign for Real Madrid but they should watch his progress with Real Sociedad closely.

The Los Blancos midfielder is spending the season on loan with Sociedad and has been in fine form for the La Liga outfit.

He might not have scored or assisted on Sunday when his side faced Real Betis but he played a superb scooped pass that led to Portu’s goal.

The 20-year-old could develop into the creative beast that Liverpool’s midfield is crying out for.

His display against Betis earned a 7.12 match rating from Whoscored.com and his creativity is certain to be attractive to Jurgen Klopp and Michael Edwards.

ESPN, cited by Calciomercato, claimed earlier this month that Real Madrid might be inclined to cash in on Odegaard at the end of the season.

If Naby Keita can fulfil his potential for the rest of the season then the Reds won’t need to dip into the transfer market but they should at least keep an eye on Odegaard.
