Pep Guardiola's foreshadowing to the 2019/20 Premier League season

Pep Guardiola.

Pep Guardiola released an autobiography in 2014 titled ‘Pep Confidential’ and he might have foreshadowed Manchester City’s poor start to the season.

In his autobiography, the Manchester City boss wrote: “It’s a bit like a recipe.

“League titles are won in the last eight games, but they are lost in the first eight.”

Manchester City are already eight points behind Liverpool, having lost two games and drawn one with the Reds pulling ahead with a maximum points tally of 24 being recorded.

While Guardiola is probably right about teams throwing away their title chances in the first eight games of a season, if there is one team in the history of the sport capable of overturning an eight-point league deficit it’s the Spaniard’s Manchester City.

Under the former Barcelona boss, the Citizens have become a scarily good side but have struggled defensively this season and face falling further behind Liverpool if they don’t improve soon.

Hopefully, Guardiola’s words can be viewed as a foreshadowing of Liverpool’s first Premier League title win when we look back on the campaign in May 2020.
