Ray Parlour prefers Raheem Sterling to Sadio Mane

Raheem Sterling.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Alan Brazil and Ray Parlour discussed who they think is better between Raheem Sterling and Sadio Mane.

“Good question,” said Brazil when asked by Parlour if he would take Mane or Sterling. “Mane wasn’t great against United but saying that, he is a top player.”

“I love his touch, his control. Even there are bodies around him, he’s brilliant. At the moment Sterling is scoring more goals.”

Parlour then added: “I would definitely go more towards Sterling than Mane, but Mane’s been excellent.”

Sterling was absolutely brilliant for Manchester City on Wednesday evening as he scored a hattrick and grabbed an assist but despite the Englishman’s fine form, Liverpool fans will likely agree that after the year Mane has had, the Senegal forward is the better player.

His dribbling and ability to fool an opponent in a 1 v 1 situation is outstanding while his defensive work rate makes Andy Robertson’s life a whole lot easier as he often drops back to help defend against overlapping fullback runs.

Over the last 12 months, Sadio Mane has been the best player in the world behind Lionel Messi and Virgil van Dijk and should be on the podium at the Ballon d’Or ceremony.
