Jurgen Klopp makes Dejan Lovren transfer decision
Dejan Lovren’s future at Liverpool is no longer under as much scrutiny as it has been in the past as the Croatian has been improved recently.
Last season, the former Southampton central defender was the villain at the Etihad as his poor awareness and positioning made it possible for Sergio Aguero and Leroy Sane to score two goals in a 2-1 defeat for the Reds.
This season, however, he was world-class at Anfield as he helped stifle Aguero, Sterling and Bernardo Silva. The latter might have scored a consolation goal for the away side but it had nothing to do with Lovren.
The Football Insider reports that Klopp has no plans to offload Lovren in the winter transfer window despite the German previously being ready to let him leave for around £20m in the summer transfer window.
With Joel Matip injured and Joe Gomez apparently out of form, Lovren needs to perform to a high level. After making an error against Genk in the Champions League away game in Belgium, the 30-year-old has been faultless.
With Matip not likely to return to action for a few weeks, Lovren will be sure to continue playing in the starting XI ahead of Joe Gomez following the international break.
Hopefully, the veteran can avoid injury and illness during the break and return to Melwood fit and ready to go ahead of the festive fixture list.
