Adam Lallana: We’ll Need Everyone In Order to Win the League

The midfielder understands that keeping momentum through the rest of the season will be a group effort.

Sunday’s game against Wolves was not exactly a comfortable win for the Reds, but they did manage to squeak through with three points. Their 13 point cushion at the top of the table was restored, and they’re in a very strong position going into 2020.

Adam Lallana, who started at the weekend, knows that the team can’t rest yet and the league is far from won. In order to keep the momentum in what so far looks to be a record-breaking season, every member of the team will need to contribute.

“It’s a squad game and I’ve said before that we’re going to need everybody,” Lallana said after the game.

”We’ve got a few injuries at the time being and three or four kids on the bench, it’s a great experience for them being involved and so close to what’s been a special season so far.

”We can’t take our foot off the gas. We’ve got a couple of huge games at home in the next week – Sheffield United, who have had a fantastic season, and then the derby in the cup. A couple of big games that we can see in the next week.

“It’s important we recover because we’ve had a few injuries and it’s important that we get everybody back fit as quickly as possible.

”We want to maintain that form going into the New Year and keep Anfield a fortress.”

So far every player who has been asked to step up has done an excellent job. Joe Gomez had fallen down the pecking order after his injury, but since Matip and Lovren have been injured, he’s stepped up and been excellent once again. Fabinho has been out for months, and in his place, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, James Milner, and Xherdan Shaqiri have all taken turns putting in good shifts. When Alisson was out to start the season, recently acquired free transfer Adrian slotted in and helped his teammates win every game he played.

The strength of the squad means that even a rotated side feels like a match winner. Whether it’s talent, mentality, preparation, or a combination of the three, Klopp has a full squad of go-to guys without any deadwood in sight.
