Former Man United striker raves about Liverpool forward

Former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov believes Liverpool winger Sadio Mane has been a standout player in the Premier League this season.

The Senegal international has been in superb form for the Reds this season, however, he did not score or create in Liverpool’s 4-0 victory against Leicester City on Boxing Day.

Regardless of that being the case, Mane has scored nine goals and produced five assists in the Premier League this season, which highlights how good he has been.

That type of form has caught the eye of Berbatov, and he believes Mane has been one of the best players in the Premier League this season.

“Looking at the season so far, when it comes to players one that has stood out for me so far is Sadio Mane,” Berbatov said, as quoted by Metro.

“Mane has been unbelievable, the progress he has made, his performances in games, goals and assists, he has it all – everything is there for him and he is still just 27.

“He’s got amazing speed, stamina and balance – he can still develop and it was a fantastic achievement to come fourth in the Ballon d’Or rankings, I’m sure he is please and you can see it on the pitch.

“Every time he has that space to burst through the deference with the ball he does it with ease, he’s having an unbelievable season.”

Berbatov is certainly right to wonder if Mane has been one of the most influential players in the Premier League this season.

It is difficult to think of any player within England’s top division who has had a better season thus far. What is scary regarding Mane is the fact he is only 27 years old.

Mane will be looking to continue his good form against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Anfield come Sunday in the Premier League.
