Chris Wilder is out to dent Liverpool’s title hopes

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder is out to dent Liverpool’s Premier League title hopes at Anfield tonight, despite how strong Jurgen Klopp’s side have been this season.

The Reds currently possess a 10-point lead at the top of the table. However, they do have two games in hand.

One of those games is against Wilder’s Sheffield United. The Reds struggled against Wilder’s side earlier in the season, but they still left Bramall Lane with a 1-0 victory courtesy of a second-half strike by Georginio Wijnaldum.

Wilder has accepted he is coming up against the world champions, but he still holds hope that his side can get something at Anfield tonight.

“Going to Anfield, iconic stadium, fabulous experience, everything that Liverpool bring to the English game,” Wilder told the media.

“They are the most powerful, historic of clubs in our game and going so well.

“But we’d like to put a little bump in their road, as we tried to do at Manchester City.”

Sheffield United have been excellent this season. Many did not expect them to do much, but they are currently eighth in the Premier League, which highlights how strong they have been this season.

Liverpool will need to be ready for the assault Sheffield United will throw at them. Wilder’s side have shown for a lot of this season that they fear no one.

It is important to remember that if it weren’t for the awful mistake made by Sheffield United’s goalkeeper Dean Henderson, which allowed Wijnaldum to score the winner, the Blades would have gained a point against the Reds earlier in the season.
