Harry Redknapp provides his prediction for Liverpool’s clash against Shrewsbury

Harry Redknapp.

Former football manager Harry Redknapp believes that Liverpool will find a way to claim an away victory against Shrewsbury Town tonight in the FA Cup.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is expected to make changes for the FA Cup clash at the New Meadow Stadium to give his senior players a well-deserved rest.

Liverpool are currently 16 points clear at the top of the Premier League table, which highlights how good Klopp’s first XI have been this season.

With that being the case, it provides the youngsters a great opportunity tonight. Klopp made wholesale changes against Everton in the FA Cup at the start of 2020, and the youngsters certainly did not disappoint.

Curtis Jones’ second-half strike against Everton’s first XI was enough to secure a 1-0 victory at Anfield.

Redknapp believes that the Reds will claim a victory against Shrewbury Town, regardless of the changes that Klopp makes.

“Liverpool have one hand on the Premier League title and although they fielded a weakened starting eleven in the previous round, were still able to beat local rivals Everton 1-0,” Redknapp told BetVictor, as quoted by The Sport Review.

“They were suffering with a lengthy injury list at the time but the youngsters who stepped in did a great job in helping them to qualify.

“They now face the trip to League One Shrewsbury, with the hosts and thousands watching on live TV looking for an almighty upset.

“The old Gay Meadow witnessed some memorable cup shocks back in the day, and the Shropshire side would love nothing more than to beat the current Champions League holders at their new ground.

“They caused a big surprise in the last round, eliminating high-flying Championship Bristol City, but surely lightning can’t strike twice and Liverpool have too much depth in their squad to allow another major scalp.”

It would be superb if the youngsters could claim another victory in the FA Cup. The incentive for the youngsters to claim a victory is more game time in a very competitive competition.

Klopp’s younger side will fancy its chances, especially having gained confidence from defeating a full-strength Everton at Anfield at the beginning of the month.
