Arsene Wenger gives verdict on whether Liverpool can go unbeaten

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool could finish the 2019-20 Premier League season unbeaten.

The Reds currently possess a 22-point lead at the top of the Premier League table, which does make it likely that it will be Liverpool lifting the Premier League title come May.

To gain such a lead, the Reds have taken maximum points from 25 Premier League matches out of a possible 26. Liverpool have only dropped points against Manchester United, where the game finished 1-1 at Old Trafford back in October.

There is a serious possibility that Liverpool could finish the Premier League season unbeaten. It is also important to remember that Klopp’s side could surpass Arsenal’s famous 49-game unbeaten run.

When asked about the Reds going unbeaten, Wenger, who was in charge of Arsenal when they finished the 2003-04 Premier League season unbeaten, told Sporf: “They are doing exceptionally well.

“They put a team together that is very efficient, very consistent and has good fighting qualities as well, so let’s see. The records are there to be beaten and they can do it.”

Wenger also commented on whether he would feel sad if Liverpool broke his record: “He has to fight for himself and I would completely understand that.”

It is crazy what Liverpool are currently doing. Of course, it would only take one mistake for Liverpool’s chances of remaining unbeaten for an entire season to come crashing down.

However, that is not how Klopp’s side will be thinking. There is no denying that they will be looking to go the entire season unbeaten due to how far they have already come.
