Some guy who played for Liverpool and United talks about the title race.

Michael Owen is a polarizing figure with supporters of both Manchester United and Liverpool. At one time he was a world class talent but injuries and poor decisions derailed his career. Now Owen finds himself as a TV pundit commentating on the Premier League happenings.

Yesterday, Manchester United scraped together a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa to bring themselves level on points with Liverpool. Of course, this brought about the conversation about where or not there’s a real title race on our hands.

“I’m not sure [United] can win the title with him to be honest.” Owen told the Daily Star. “I still think they’re… I think they’re a brilliant counter-attacking team, against the bigger and better teams they are exceptional and can give anyone a problem.

“I watched them the other day and there were no chances. Listen, they’re right in the mix, no question about it.

“They’re second on goal difference, but are they as rounded a team as Liverpool or Man City?

“I still think they’re a step behind and I still think it will be a struggle for them to win the title. But the way they’re playing, anything is possible.”

Not really anything incredibly insightful from the former English international, but that’s why he gets paid the big bucks to talk into a microphone.
