Despite taking the lead twice, Liverpool couldn’t bag a win against Brentford, and the captain recognizes the missed opportunity.

Liverpool netted three goals against Brentford last night, but conceded an equal number, losing two points against the newly promoted side. And Jordan Henderson accepted that it was a missed opportunity for the Reds.

“They [Brentford] are a very intense team, they have shown they are capable of playing at this level so far. So, we knew it would be difficult coming here; the crowd, it was a great atmosphere. And they made it difficult for us, so you’ve got to give them credit. But from our side we’ll be disappointed”, said Henderson.

“Going in the lead twice and not being able to see the game out is disappointing from our side, but we’ve got to try to take the positives and move on.”

And while Liverpool is capable of placing opponents under intense pressure as well, he concedes that the squad could have done much better.

“We’re an intense team as well – we like high-intense games. But I think there’s a lot of room for improvement from us today, I thought at times it could be a lot better. But we stayed in the game early on, first half wasn’t great. Came out second half and performed better, [we] were controlling it a little bit better as well. But, unfortunately, just couldn’t hang on for the win.”

Despite the draw, Liverpool are top of the league currently, placed a point above Manchester City, who they faced next weekend in a big clash of the two title contenders.
