Things are heating up.

According to journalist Ferran Martinez of CatalunyaRadio and RAC1, Barcelona want Luis Diaz this summer. The club have reportedly received word from Diaz’s camp that he’s keen on a move to the Spotify stadium, and are willing to finance the move by selling on one of their top players for big money.

Of course, this isn’t the first time Diaz has been linked with Barcelona. Shortly after he arrived on Merseyside, Luis Diaz’s dad mentioned moving on to Catalonia as a long-term career aim for the player, and he reiterated it over the past year.

For Liverpool FC, it makes a lot of sense. If there’s going to be a shuffling in the attacking pack, Diaz is the player that will be the easiest to move, especially when there’s a ready-made suitor.

At 27 years old, his value will be at its highest, and for the player, this will probably be his last big contract or move left for him to make. Liverpool have also been rumoured to be looking for a wide player to add to their ranks, so Diaz leaving may solve the glut that’s been developing at the left-winger spot for several seasons now. Everything about this tracks so far.

Luis’ work rate and skills on the ball have always been a joy to watch, and if this is what he wants, then I wish him all the best.
