Liverpool Not Interested in Inácio
That makes sense.
Earlier this week, Fabrizio Romano, the man who tweets too much, posted transfer news linking Manchester United and Liverpool FC to Sporting CP’s Gonçalo Inácio.
The 22-year-old had been bandied about as an option for the Reds since last summer, so it wasn’t exactly surprising to see him linked again.
Manchester United and Liverpool have both been monitoring Gonçalo Inácio ahead of the summer transfer window.

His release clause is worth €60m.
Man United are still discussing internally how many centre-backs they want to bring in — for sure, at least one right-footed. pic.twitter.com/CvLU16GYBx
Now, club-connected journalist David Lynch (on This is Anfield) has rubbished this link, claiming that the defender does not feature on Liverpool’s list of potential targets at centre-back and that the reports are just an attempt to generate interest in the player.
Now, that makes sense. Inácio has seemingly been on the market for over a year now, and if Liverpool wanted him, they could have easily made a move already. The Reds are said to be keen to add to the centre-back rotation, but a transfer may come later in the window as new head coach assesses his squad options, like Sepp van den Berg, who’s returning to the club after a loan at Mainz. He should at least be given a look at in preseason camp, even with Brentford and Southampton showing interest in him.
