Rumour Mongering: Markovic Set for £15M Swansea Move

Lazar Markovic could complete a permanent transfer to Swansea before the close of the transfer window.

Liverpool are trying to find a new home for Lazar Markovic. That much is known. It’s also clear that they would prefer to sell the player, recouping as much of the £20M fee they paid for him as possible, though if that can’t be done they’d be willing to loan him to a club where he might rebuild his transfer value.

Yesterday, reliable reports had Swansea and Wolfsburg leading the chase, though at the time there was no answer to the loan or sale question. Today there might be, with at least one outlet reporting Markovic’s agent is flying to England to sign off on a permanent £15M move to league stragglers Swansea City.

Given Markovic hasn’t played a single minute for Jürgen Klopp and has only been included with the U23s once this season, from a Liverpool perspective that seems almost too good to be true. Still, it’s what Football Insider claim is on the verge of happening—and at least it won’t take long to know for sure.

And if it does go through, even if Markovic wasn’t part of the plan at Liverpool for Klopp, it will inevitably raise eyebrows that the club are letting yet another player depart while not bringing in the first team reinforcements they seem to need for their top four push and Champions League commitments.
