Rumour Mongering: Liverpool on Alert Over £65M-Rated Marc Guehi
Crystal Palace centre half Marc Guehi started for England on Sunday and could be set to move following Euro 2024.
It’s a month into the offseason and Liverpool are yet to dip their toe into the summer 2024 transfer market, but so far the strongest transfer chatter has focused in on the potential for centre half reinforcements.
From Stuttgart captain Waldemar Anton to Lille rising youngster Leny Yoro to a revival of speculation around Chelsea’s Levi Colwill, the rumours mongers at least think centre half is a point of emphasis for the Reds.
Now, we can add Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi to the list, the 23-year-old Chelsea academy product currently starting for England at Euro 2024 and with growing concerns at Palace around his contract status.
At least that’s how The Telegraph spin it, with reports from the Palace end claiming Guehi could be sold if he returns from the Euros, isn’t ready to extend his contract, and a buying club meets their £65M valuation.
Guehi currently has two years on his Palace contract and after three seasons as a starter has seen his stock skyrocket over the past year, and Palace want to avoid letting him get down to the final year of his deal.
For their part, Liverpool are the only named club said to be keeping a close eye on the situation, ready to pounce should Guehi become available—though others are said to hold interest in the England international.
