The battle for Gleison Bremer is said to be on between Liverpool and rivals Manchester United.

Another day, another link to a defender. It’s no secret that Liverpool have a hole in their backline that needs filling this summer. Virgil van Dijk and the all-too-frequently injured Ibrahima Konaté need more support in defense than can be provided by Joe Gomez and young Jarell Quansah.

Arne Slot and the transfer committee are surely prioritizing replacing Jöel Matip before the start of the new season. Because of this, journos across Europe are speculating on which potentially available players could be on the club’s radar.

Gleison Bremer is under contract with Italian giants Juventus until 2028, but he is still garnering interest across the continent for his impressive defensive skills.

Liverpool are said to be battling old rivals Manchester United for his signature. Juventus are in a strong position, however, and won’t settle for anything below €70m for the player this summer. There is reportedly a release clause in his contract that is between €60m-€70m, but it only goes into effect next year.

Bremer is currently in the United States representing Brazil in the Copa Ámerica.
