Premier League legend Ian Wright wants to see Mohamed Salah get a new deal that keeps him on Merseyside beyond the end of the 2024-25 season.

Mohamed Salah has made it clear he would like to stay at Liverpool beyond the end of the 2024-25 season when his contract expires, and with the 32-year-old superstar showing no signs of slowing down pressure is now on the club.

He’s started his eighth season at the club in typically fine form, with six goal involvements in Liverpool’s first three games while continuing to set standards for fitness and professionalism for the squad and new head coach Arne Slot.

And if you asked legendary Arsenal forward Ian Wright, there really shouldn’t be any doubts or questions on the club’s side about seeking to extend Liverpool’s Egyptian King for at least two more seasons beyond the current campaign.

“I do get the impression that he’d probably like to stay at Liverpool and break records,” Wright noted. “He’s got that legacy. Let’s say that he stays for three years, even if he dropped off in the last year that’s ten years of unbelievable service.

“So I believe he will probably stay if Liverpool offer it. And I know that people can get nervy about contracts for players in their thirties but I do think that he’s an exception in the way that he prepares himself and in the way that he plays.”

Salah is already one of Liverpool’s top five players of all time and he can certainly make a convincing case as being the best winger in English football in the Premier League era. A few more years would serve to further burnish that legacy.

Beyond the difficulty of replacing the output of a player who remains one of the most effective attackers in the game, as a club legend Salah deserves the chance to do that, to hit the ten year mark, and to continue setting records in Red.
