The player will be looking to get his career back on track.

Liverpool FC announced on their official website that former academy product Tom Hill has completed a permanent transfer to Harrogate Town.

The 22-year-old played for the Reds at every age group at academy level. He made one competitive first-team appearance in the infamous Carabao Cup quarter-final defeat to Aston Villa in December 2019, which saw Liverpool field a team of mostly youth players while the senior squad was overseas playing in the Club World Cup.

Unfortunately, shortly after signing a professional contract at Anfield and just as Tom was about to make the leap to senior football, he suffered an ACL injury, which caused a 20-month injury layoff the following year. However, he was involved with the senior squad in pre-season in the summer of 2022 and was named on the bench in the Europa League last season.

Despite that setback, the midfielder has a good reputation at both his former club and his new one.

Liverpool academy reporter Lewis Bower said that he ‘was very well thought of’ at Anfield, while Harrogate head of recruitment Lloyd Kelly described Hill as ‘an energetic, versatile midfielder’ who’s ‘always stood out’ to them.

Here’s hoping Tom manages to kick on at Harrogate. YNWA.
