Liverpool Injury Update Ahead of Final Goodison Derby

Trent Alexander-Arnold is at least close to being involved while Joe Gomez is ruled out for Arne Slot’s Reds.
Liverpool’s headlining injury news heading into their re-arranged mid-week derby date against historic rivals Everton in what will be the final such match at the Blues’ Goodison Park before relocating to their new stadium has Trent Alexander-Arnold in the mix.
Alexander-Arnold was forced off against Bournemouth on the 1st of the month after the 26-year-old felt a tightness in his hamstring, and Everton was always the return target. Manager Arne Slot confirmed he has been involved in training now—but only in a single session, which suggests a bench role could be more likely than a start.
“Trent has done parts of training sessions with us,” he noted. “Not ‘sessions’, just a session, yesterday. So let’s see how he is today. He will train hopefully with us again today and then we have to decide if we can take him to the game, yes or no.”
Joe Gomez meanwhile is a definite no after having to come off in the first half against Plymouth over the weekend with tightness in the same leg that saw him miss time earlier this year with a hamstring issue and Slot noting, “We are still assessing that but he will definitely not be with us tomorrow.”
The only other first team question mark that leaves is Curtis Jones, who suffered an unspecified knock against Tottenham in the League Cup last week that resulted in him only being an unused substitute against Plymouth.
Slot previously noted he hadn’t felt confident enough in the payer’s fitness to bring him with his Reds chasing the game on the weekend, but the expectation would be that his inclusion on the bench should signal he will be able to take part in Wednesday’s derby.
