Rumour Mongering: Liverpool Rejected Saudi Bid for Nunez in January

There’s a title to be won, so no.
According to a report from Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool FC rejected a bid from Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr in January.
The offer is said to have exceeded £62 million ($77.1 million), but the Reds turned down the offer because they still saw Nunez as a key part of Slot’s plans at Anfield, and didn’t have a replacement lined up as the winter window drew to a close.

Al-Nassr would end up pursuing and signing Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran instead.
As far as the offer goes, it’s a nice return for a player whom many vocal fans and pundits seem to expect more from. It’s also absolutely the right move for now, with Liverpool in pole position for the league title and in a strong place for the Champions League knockouts.
While Nunez does get his minutes at Liverpool, it wouldn’t be surprising if he does move on in the summer to a side where he is higher in the pecking order, or to a a more counter-attacking team that may suit him better.
