The 19-year-old striker is regarded as perhaps the club’s top teenage talent and heads to the Championship in search of playing time.

The January transfer window may have already slammed shut late on Monday night, but Liverpool as expected announced today that they completed a deal to send talented 19-year-old striker Jayden Danns to Championship promotion hopefuls Sunderland.

Part of the delay in announcing the loan deal was getting Danns on a new Liverpool contract before sending him off. The other part of the delay was that Danns is currently out injured and is expected to miss another week or two before returning to action.

As such, he will remain on Merseyside until fit before heading to the north-east to begin his loan spell at Sunderland, who currently sit fourth in the table, just three points off Sheffield and five behind Leeds in first and second—the automatic qualification places.

Danns will be expected to the second choice at striker behind Wilson Isidor. It’s also possible he could end up being deployed alongside the the 24-year-old French forward who has 10 goals in 27 Championship appearances so far in the 2024-25 season.
