While Liverpool will be looking to continue their winning ways after their midweek Champions League victory over Manchester City, Everton will be wanting to improve after their loss to City last Saturday, 31 March.
Liverpool are currently on their longest ever unbeaten run in 16 games (wins 8 draws 8) against Everton in all competitions. The last time Everton beat Liverpool in a Premier League derby they won 2 – 0, which was way back in October 2010 and they have been without a win in the last 14. The Merseyside derby has received 21 red cards in the Premier League, which is the most of any Premier League fixture.
In the likely event of an Everton loss, Sam Allardyce will become only the second manager to lose 200 Premier League matches. Harry Redknapp has lost 238 PL matches. Everton are currently ninth on the PL table with 40 points and Liverpool are in third with 66 but have played one more game than the rest of the teams in the top four.

Adam Lallana is out with a hamstring injury while Joel Matip will likely miss the remainder of the season due to a thigh injury. Emre Can is also on the injured list since sustaining a back injury early on during last week’s match at Crystal Palace. Joe Gomez is also likely to miss tomorrow’s match due to an ankle injury.
Ashley Williams will be available after serving a suspension and Idrissa Gana Gueye has recovered from his hamstring injury.
What the Managers Had to Say
Sam Allardyce: It’s a good time to play a derby for us in between the two Champions League games. But Jürgen has a very strong squad and they haven’t let him down all season. If he changes his squad it will still be strong and fresh. We have to stand on the front foot, be brave and be clinical if we get an opportunity. I’ve played Liverpool with other teams I’ve been with and we’ve won or drawn - and I’ve won at the big boys before so I know how to do it, but it’s a derby which makes it extra difficult.
Jürgen Klopp: Everton will be motivated on the highest level. They have a very good home record. They are a really good team with Yannick Bolasie back, Theo Walcott, Cenk Tosun in a good moment. They are altogether except Sigurdsson. That’s a good football team and they are very experienced in defence. Each Evertonian thinks at Goodison they have an extra percentage of desire. We need to be ready for that, but it’s a football game. In all of my derbies there’s always been an overly hard tackle. I hope we can go without that tomorrow. But we need to be ready for hard challenges, it’s a derby.
