Dejan Lovren is “proud” of Jordan Henderson’s performances thus far at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

He also revealed that he wouldn’t mind facing his club captain later on in the tournament.

Both Lovren and Henderson have become key members of Jurgen Klopp’s team, and with that, have taken superb form into the World Cup after a successful campaign with the Reds.

Jordan Henderson ran 10.06km against Panama, 1km more than any other player on the pitch, in 32-degree heat.

He completed 91% of his 72 passes attempted, won all four of his aerial duels and wasn't dispossessed once.

“I’m definitely proud of Jordan Henderson who is showing throughout this [World Cup] that he’s had a great season for him,”  said Lovren.

“Even with the fatigue, mentally too, he’s showing he’s a real leader for both Liverpool and England.

“I hope they can go as far as we do and maybe we can meet later on!”

Henderson’s England and Lovren’s Croatia are both through to the round of 16 with a game to spare in the group stage.
