Marko Grujic Reportedly Wanted By Galatasaray

The Turkish club are rumoured to have submitted a formal bid to Liverpool for Grujic.

It hasn’t been the burgeoning Liverpool career that Marko Grujic expected when he signed for the Reds back in 2016. JĂĽrgen Klopp had convinced the Serbian midfielder to join his Merseyside revitalisation from Red Star Belgrade, but the promise that Grujic exhibited with his boyhood club hasn’t carried him very far in the Premier League.

The opportunities under Klopp were few and far between for the 22-year-old and last summer he was sent out on loan to Cardiff City with the hope that regular minutes would raise the player’s game. And while I didn’t spend any time following Marko’s progress through Cardiff’s campaign, it seems like that’s exactly what happened. The Bluebirds came in second in the Championship securing automatic promotion to the Premier League next season.

But despite the progress made in the Championship it looks like Marko’s future won’t include a return to Liverpool. Cardiff City have shown an interest in bringing on Grujic permanently but they aren’t his only suitors. Lazio are also reportedly interested but it’s Galatasaray in Turkey who are rumoured to have made the first official contact with Liverpool.

Turkish outlet Fotomac have claimed that Galatasaray are beginning negotiations with Liverpool. The price being bandied about for Grujic is £10M but Galatasaray are also said to be open to a loan deal for the midfielder.

It remains to be seen whether JĂĽrgen Klopp is actually ready to give up on the Marko Grujic experiment. Midfield depth was an issue for Liverpool over the last season but there haven’t been any inclinations that Marko’s exploits in Cardiff have moved Klopp to include the young midfielder in his plans.
