Barcelona interested in signing Firmino

Fresh off the back of identifying Dejan Lovren as a key centre-back target for January, Barcelona have reportedly turned their attention to Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino as well.

According to TeamTalk, the La Liga champions have set their sights of The Reds’ No. 9 as the ideal replacement for Luis Suarez, who turns 32 in January.

And it would appear that former Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho, who joined Barcelona for £142million, has played a part in his side’s sudden interest in Firmino, with the creative attacker waxing lyrical about Firmino’s abilities.

Coutinho and Firmino both starred for Brazil in the World Cup this summer, and were a lethal combination during their time at Liverpool.

Barcelona believe Firmino’s worth ethic would complement the current attacking crop in the side, including Lionel Messi, though they would need to splash out a reported €200million to prise Firmino from Anfield.

The Spanish giants will wait until summer 2019 before making any move for Firmino, and may attempt to use Luis Suarez as a makeweight in the deal.
