Rumour Mongering: Liverpool Interested In Barcelona Fullback

Klopp is said to be looking at acquiring the services of Aleix Vidal.

This one is a head scratcher for Liverpool fans. Several sites have linked the club with Barcelona right-back Aleix Vidal. Vidal is said to be ready to leave the Camp Nou this summer in search of more consistent playing time elsewhere, according to The Mirror via Italian sources.

The Spanish player has supposedly caught the attention of several prominent clubs, including Liverpool and Manchester United, but the frontrunners for his signature are said to be Inter Milan.

This seems like a pretty typical ‘slot player with team, write story’ kind of link, especially considering that the right-back position should be the least of Klopp’s concerns at the moment. With Trent Alexander-Arnold, Nathaniel Clyne, and Joe Gomez all more-than-capable to fill that position, it seems difficult to understand why the club would be looking to spend money on another right-back in this window.

Alexander-Arnold, in particular, was a revelation last season for Klopp, and fans have to be excited about the prospect of him and a now-fit Clyne battling it out next season for that position.

This feels like one of those tenuous links suggested by the player’s agent in order to drum up interest for him.
