Georginio Wijnaldum in contention for Manchester City friendly

Georginio Wijnaldum will be available for selection against Manchester City after an illness.

The Dutch midfielder was thwarted early in Liverpool’s summer camp with a muscle injury, stopping the player from playing in any of the Reds pre-season friendlies to date.

However, Wijnaldum is now in contention to get much-needed game time for the first time this summer against Manchester City at the MetLife Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The Reds will spend two days in New Jersey before concluding their tour of the United States against Manchester United in Ann Arbor on Saturday.

Following the tour, the Anfield club will depart for a camp in the south of France before playing Napoli on August 4 in Dublin, Ireland.
