Leighanne Robe Confirmed To Join Liverpool

The Ladies have completed their first summer signing!

It’s harder to build something back up once it’s all been torn down, but that’s what Liverpool Ladies are trying to do following the departure of over 8 starting players this season, and their manager. Their first step was hiring a new manager in Neil Redfearn recently, and they’ve built further on that by making their first summer signing in Leiganne Robe.

Robe is a 24 year old defender most recently from FA WSL2 side Millwall Lionesses, having worn the number 6 shirt. We’re gonna assume she’s playing the traditional left fullback role and is going to wear the same shirt because that’s definitely a position that needs to be filled. She came through the ranks at Arsenal before before moving to Watford Ladies in 2014, and spending two years with them before moving to Millwall in 2016. Robe was instrumental in helping the Lionesses secure a third place finish in the FA WSL2 this past season, but unfortunately that’s about the extent of information available on her.

“I am absolutely delighted to be joining the club and I’m really looking forward to working alongside Neil (Redfearn). It is a massive opportunity to make the step up to WSL1 and I am really excited for the new season,” Robe said of the move to Liverpool.

“Although this is a transition period for the club, Neil has some exciting plans for the future and I have no doubt that we will have a successful season next year. This is a huge club which should be competing for trophies on a regular basis and having spoken to Neil that is definitely the aim of the club.”

Of course, optimism is required at this point of transition for anyone coming into the club, despite this being the only thing worth any optimism. It’s no doubt a big move for the defender and a lot of hopes are being pinned to her as the first of hopefully many signings for the burnt down Reds.
