Liverpool in ‘advanced talks’ with Roma after Alisson bid

Liverpool have launched a stunning £62million bid for Roma goalkeeper Alisson Becker and talks with the Italian club are well underway, according to several UK-based sources.
The Reds’ interest in Alisson emerged in the early part of the year but the club informed the player’s agents they would not be making a bid, fearful they would be charged an excessive sum after signing Mohamed Salah in 2017 for what proved a snip at £37million.
Klopp has been running the rule over Loris Karius in training after his Champions League Final nightmare, and it appears his stance has changed after the German’s jittery start to pre-season.
Roma are not under any pressure to sell the Brazilian no.1, it seems, but would be open to a suitable deal.
According to the Echo, Liverpool’s proposed deal at the moment is £52million up front with a further £9million in add-ons. Roma will reportedly hold out for a package totalling £66.6million, but Liverpool are confident they can reach an agreement.

The player himself seemed intent on joining Real Madrid, but he is now said to be keen on a move to Anfield after holding talks with Jurgen Klopp.
Should the deal go through, it would be a world-record fee for a goalkeeper, comfortably beating the £47million Juventus shelled out for Gianluigi Buffon back in 2001.
Premier League rivals Chelsea are understood to be interested in Alisson, but Liverpool appear to have jumped to the head of the queue, while Real Madrid have yet to make contact with Roma.
