‘Liverpool want £20million for Danny Ings’

Liverpool have reportedly slapped a £20million price tag on striker Danny Ings, putting off supposed suitor Southampton.

Ings, who served as a deputy to Roberto Firmino after recovering his fitness, will be reluctantly allowed to leave Anfield this summer in pursuit of first-team football.

Southampton had been listed as one of the interested parties, but according to the Daily Echo, those reports are wide of the mark.

Liverpool appear to be reluctant to let Ings, for whom they paid £8million, to depart on the cheap.

Crystal Palace remain interested in the pacey forward but have yet to submit a bid as they assess their options.

Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic and Rafael Benitez’s Newcastle have also been tentatively linked, while there is an outside chance Ings will return to Burnley.

Jurgen Klopp is currently running the rule over Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi after their respective loan spells and will decide in the coming weeks whether their futures lie elsewhere.

He intends to keep Dominic Solanke and promote Rhian Brewster to the first-team setup.

He may yet encourage Ings to stay put if he doubts the reliability of Sturridge or the goalscoring capacity of Origi.

Nonetheless, Liverpool will likely sell if clubs do meet their asking price in order to boost their funds, with talk of big-money moves for Nabil Fekir and Alisson Becker before the window closes.
