Klopp Sends Message To Celtic Fans Ahead of ‘A Match For Cancer’
The Liverpool manager will be heading up James Milner’s team on September 8th.
On September 8th, right about the time when you’ll be shaking your fist at the sky and cursing the international break, James Milner and Jürgen Klopp will be headed to Celtic Park to host a charity match which will be a mix of celebrities and footballers. A Match For Charity will equally benefit the James Milner Foundation, Stiliyan Petrov Foundation, and the Celtic FC Foundation.
Milner will captain one team, which will be managed by Klopp. The other team will be captained by Celtic and Aston Villa legend Stiliyan Petrov, Milner’s former teammate, and managed by our old friend Brendan Rodgers. Petrov has been battling cancer since 2012, so this cause is close to his heart.
Ahead of the match, Klopp recorded a message for the Celtic fans, talking about how happy he is to visit Glasgow and be involved in such a good cause. He also makes a joke about meeting his “landlord” Rodgers to discuss “plumbing” and “electricity.”
Aside from Milner, Klopp, and Rodgers, there will be other faces very familiar to Liverpool fans at the game, including Luis Garcia, John Arne Riise, and Dirk Kuyt, among others. Full line-ups for both teams are list here.
These charity events are always entertaining, and this one is for a particularly good cause. If you’re not hot for the international action, it will be an enjoyable way to spend a few hours on Saturday, September 8th.
