Klopp Talk: Sturridge is a Fantastic Footballer

Klopp had heaps of praise for his substitute man

By now I’m sure everyone has seen Daniel Sturridge’s 89th minute equalizer that saw Liverpool draw 1-1 with Chelsea on Saturday evening. In what was billed as the game of the season by some, it certainly was an exciting match with twists and turns, but Sturridge’s goal is what is grabbing all the headlines. Even Sturridge himself thinks it’s an amazing goal.

After the game this is what Red’s boss Jurgen Klopp had to say about the stunner, “Three days ago he had a similar situation and hit the crossbar,” Klopp said. “He is a fantastic footballer and had a full pre-season. He is the best shape since I have known him. It’s as simple as that and really cool, I am really happy for him. He works hard, he is just a good lad, when he came in the dressing room after 20 minutes or so, it was pretty loud because the boys are all happy for him. He really is in a good moment.”

Maybe Daniel Sturridge’s peak days are behind him, but that doesn’t mean he can’t and won’t be an important piece of this title challenging side. I would go as far to say that if Liverpool are going to challenge for the title this season, Sturridge will need to be an important part.

What a goal and a moment for the striker.
