Liverpool make fresh approach for Adrien Rabiot

According to ESPN, Liverpool have approached the mother and agent of Paris Saint-Germain’s Adrien Rabiot over a potential transfer move.

Jurgen Klopp has had his eye on 23-year-old Rabiot for years and attempted to sign him during his time at Borussia Dortmund. Sources also claim that Klopp and Rabiot have even spoken on the phone over the possibility of the latter moving to Anfield.

Rabiot, now in the final year of his contract, would be available on a free transfer next summer and has so far rejected all offers of a new deal from the Parisian club. He was linked with Barcelona this summer but PSG refused to sell, but he will be free to agree a deal with another club in January.

Barcelona and a host of other clubs will now doubt come in for the talented midfielder in the New Year – AC Milan have also been strongly linked – but Liverpool may already have an edge with Rabiot admitting in October that he grew up loving Liverpool.

Speaking with French radio station RMC, he said:

“I would love to play in the Premier League, not necessarily one club in particular, even though I was very fond of Liverpool when I was young.”

With the long-term future of Adam Lallana in doubt after he suffered yet another injury setback, Klopp may start turning his attentions elsewhere to continue building his increasingly new-look Liverpool.
