Rhian Brewster Reportedly Has Another Injury Set Back
According to The Mirror, the young striker is not recovering as quickly as anticipated.
Well, this is one we can’t blame on international break.
Over the summer, Liverpool fought hard to keep 18-year-old academy product Rhian Brewster at the club, even going as far as cancelling a friendly against Bundesliga side Borussia Mönchengladbach after apparent tapping-up of the youngster.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp convinced Brewster to stay and sign a professional contract with the Reds. All indications pointed to Klopp having first-team ambitions for the talented England youth international, once he returned to full fitness.
Unfortunately, it appears that we’ll have to wait longer for Brewster. According to reports from The Mirror, Brewster is not recovering from his ankle injury as quickly as club physios would hope. The player had surgery on his ankle after sustaining the injury in January, and apparently the rehabilitation is going slower than expected.
The report goes on to state that Brewster is expected to be out until December.
While Brewster is not vital to the current first-team set up, he will likely play a larger role, especially if Liverpool manage to progress in either of the domestic cups. Hopefully he can kick on after yet another early career setback, and show us all what Klopp sees in him before the season is out.
