Mohamed Salah a key reason why Zinedine Zidane departed Real Madrid

Reports from Spain are suggesting that Mohamed Salah played a part in Zinedine Zidane departing Real Madrid after the Spaniards won the Champions League final last season against Liverpool 3-1 in Kiev.

Gareth Bale was instrumental on the night scoring two goals, which convinced Real Madrid’s club president Florentino Perez to keep the Welshman in Madrid.

It is believed that Zidane was preparing to sell Bale to make room for one of Harry Kane, Eden Hazard or Mohamed Salah. Perez agreed with the Frenchman’s decision prior to the final.

The Champions League final ultimately handed Bale a lifeline, who was surplus to requirements in Zidane’s eyes regardless of his performance, but the president had a differing opinion come the end of it, meaning the club could not bring in one of the three shortlisted players in Kane, Hazard or Salah.

Zidane saw this as the president going back on his words, which played a part in the Frenchman leaving.
