Liverpool linked with three young attackers

Liverpool have been linked to three young attackers and may initial moves for them in the January transfer window, according to the Belfast Telegraph.

Whether the rumours have any substance, or manager Jurgen Klopp will actually pursue them, remains to be seen.

The first of the trio linked with a move to Merseyside is Krzysztof Piatek. At 23, the Polish international has scored an impressive 13 goals for Genoa this season in Serie A after only joining the club in the summer. If Liverpool want him they’ll face stiff competition from fellow Premier League sides Manchester City, Chelsea and Spurs, as well as Barcelona.

Second up is 18-year-old Jadon Sancho of Borussia Dortmund, who value the youngster at a whopping £100m. Sancho has recently received his first call-up to the England squad despite making only once for Dortmund this season, though he has already notched six assists and a goal in six cameo appearances for the German outfit. As with Piatek, he is being chased by a host of top clubs.

Finally, PSV winger Steven Bergwijn is reportedly on Liverpool’s radar. The 21-year-old has scored four times in eight appearances in the Eredivisie this season, and has 14 goals in over 70 appearances for the club. He also represents better value for money than the other young players linked with a clause of just €20m.

Each player would certainly add increased depth to the Liverpool squad, and with the attacking trio of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah appearing just a little jaded and off the pace, reinforcements in January may not be the worst idea.
