Liverpool still keen on signing Aaron Ramsey in January

Liverpool could be in for Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey in the January transfer window, according to reports today in the Evening Standard.

The Welsh international looks set to leave the Emirates soon after the club withdrew a new contract offer that had been on the cards for several months.

Ramsey’s current deal expires at the end of the season and both Liverpool and Manchester United are keeping tabs. The 27-year-old is free to negotiate with foreign clubs from January 1, with AC Milan, Inter Milan and Juventus also tracking him.

Arsenal believe the possibility of Liverpool or Man United signing Ramsey is strong, given both clubs’ long-standing interest in the midfielder.

Jurgen Klopp, who is believed to be a big fan of Ramsey, will be keen to add to his attacking midfield options with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain out until the end of the season, especially after missing out on Nabil Fekir in the summer.

The deal for Fekir, which was scuppered by a failed medical, would cost at least twice as much as a deal for Ramsey, who has only six months left on his contract.
