Salah Avoids Prosecution For Driving While Using A Phone

The Liverpool star had been under investigation after a video had emerged on social media in August.

Mohamed Salah is off the hook. Video footage had emerged of the Egyptian international using his phone while behind the wheel following Liverpool’s 4-0 win over West Ham on August 12^th, sparking criticism and prompting the local police to open an investigation.

The video surfaced on Twitter shortly following the match and Liverpool confirmed at the time that the law enforcement authorities had become involved. However, after looking into the matter, the Merseyside Police have concluded that there isn’t enough evidence to levy any charges.

In a statement, they said: “We can confirm a 26-year-old man was spoken to following an incident on Arkles Lane in Liverpool on Sunday 12 August.

“Inquiries have taken place and there is insufficient evidence to support a prosecution and as such no further action will be taken.

“The man has been spoken to by officers and given advice and guidance around mobile phone use in a vehicle.”

The Reds forward has struggled, by his now lofty standards, to start the season, managing three goals and assist in 10 appearances so far but appearing frustrated and off-the-pace. A police investigation along with clashes with the Egyptian FA will surely be weighing on his mind, and so the Anfield faithful will be hoping that the resolution to this one matter will help their talisman push on in leading his side to the Premier League title.
