Virgil van Dijk returns from international duty due to injury

Virgil van Dijk has returned to Liverpool from international duty after sustaining an injury against Germany whilst representing Holland.

The centre-back has been struggling with a rib injury recently and the problem reoccured on Saturday after beating Germany 3-0.

With that being the case, Van Dijk has been ruled out of Holland’s clash with Belgium on Tuesday night.

Van Dijk, who scored against Germany, is now a doubt to face Huddersfield Town next weekend in the Premier League, according to the Liverpool Echo.

It appears that Dejan Lovren could start alongside Joe Gomez if the Dutch international does not recover in time.
