Jurgen Klopp managing Trent Alexander-Arnold’s minutes on the pitch

Jurgen Klopp is not concerned about the form of Trent Alexander-Arnold, but he does believe that the youngster returned from his holiday in the summer too soon to join pre-season.

Alexander-Arnold has had a rapid rise over the past season, playing in a Champions League final and going to the World Cup with England, which ultimately only saw the youngster have two weeks off in the summer.

His break potentially could have been longer, but he opted to cut his holiday short, which Klopp feels could be impacting the youngster in a negative sense.

He believes these type of form dips occur in young players when they have not had enough rest.

“Trent is a very young boy still,” said Klopp, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo. “He had two weeks off in the summer, that’s not a lot.

“It’s clear we try to have an eye constantly on him fitness-wise, not working with the group, stuff like that.

“We speak constantly but not about these things that were good or not good, it’s more general. Advice, information, whatever.

“So he’s actually in a good moment. He’s played a lot of football and he will play a lot of football.

“That’s good for him. Most important is that he can stay injury-free and everything will be fine.

“These are normal things. Don’t point the finger too much, accept it.

“It will not be the first time or the last time when something will not be 100% in his life but he is still an outstanding player for us, really important and so it’s all good.”

Klopp did add that they are monitoring his minutes on the pitch to get the best out of him.
