Rumour Mongering: Links Grow Between Liverpool and Newcastle Forward

Liverpool are said to be gearing up for summer fight for Alexander Isak.
As winter gives way to spring and with the club football season begins winding to a close, now is the time for summer transfer rumours to heat up. Obviously right now the biggest interest is in what players are staying at the club after this season, with several key figures out of contract in June.
But also of interest is what areas head coach Arne Slot and the transfer team believe are the most important to fill in the summer. Currently the prevailing wisdom is that Slot is looking up front to bolster his choices for striker.
Swedish forward Alexander Isak has been the name on everyone’s lips for several weeks now, with rumours saying that Liverpool’s interest for the Newcastle star is gaining traction. The prolific striker will cost a pretty penny to secure — reports saying as much as £120million. He joined Newcastle on a six year contract at the start of the 2022-23 season, meaning his obligation won’t be up until 2028.
This gives Newcastle leverage in any battle for Isak that a bigger club such as Liverpool or Arsenal might bring. Another consideration is that Newcastle, currently in sixth place, are fighting to make it into a Champions League spot for next season. Their ability to keep Isak content might depend on what happens between now and May.
Despite it seeming unlikely that the Magpies will let him go, Liverpool appear increasingly more confident that they’ll be able to strike a deal over the summer.
