Sky pundit backs Liverpool in for gritty win against Cardiff City

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has backed Liverpool to continue their unbeaten run in the Premier League this weekend by defeating Cardiff City at Anfield on Saturday.

The Reds currently sit second in the Premier League table, only with Manchester City ahead of them on goal difference.

Merson expects the Welsh side to give Liverpool a game, but the Reds will have too much quality come the end.

“Cardiff will be looking to get out of Anfield without any injures,” Merson told Sky Sports.

“It’s a case of concentrating on their next game. However, Neil Warnock’s side are a threat from set-pieces and have it in them to frustrate Liverpool.

“These are the games where Liverpool can slip up, which is why Manchester City will win the league easily – they ease past these teams.

“Sometimes these games are a grind for Liverpool.

“They will win this one but Cardiff will make it difficult. 2-0.”
