Alexander-Arnold and Milner expected to return soon

Jürgen Klopp has confirmed that Trent Alexander-Arnold is well on the road to recovery, while James Milner believes he could return against Wolves on Friday night.

Alexander-Arnold will not be fit for the Friday away fixture as he continues to recover from a knock picked up at Napoli. However, he could be available again immediately after Christmas.

“It actually looks surprisingly good,” said Klopp of Alexander-Arnold, according to LiverpoolFC.com. “I think Wolves will still be a bit too early but after that, they told me we can think about him.

“But for that, he needs to train. So far he didn’t train but the pain goes down second by second, which is good, and then in the moment when he can deal with it, he is on the pitch, and in the moment he is on the pitch we’ll make a decision.

“But it looks good for Trent.”

James Milner told LiverpoolFC.com that he expects to return for the Reds on Friday after missing Sunday’s win over Manchester United.

The No.7 sustained a minor muscle injury against Napoli and didn’t feel confident to face the Red Devils at Anfield.

The vice-captain expects to be available to face Wolves on Friday, however, and could fill in at right-back again.

“I just had a bit of a sensation in my hamstring at the end of the Napoli game and made the decision, the manager made the decision [to miss Sunday’s game],” said Milner.

“It was the right thing not to risk me at the weekend, so hopefully I’ll be fine for the next game.”
