Crystal Palace and Huddersfield are set to slug it out for the loan signing of Liverpool’s Dominic Solanke, according to Sky Sports.

Fresh off the back of a surprise victory over Manchester City on Saturday, Palace are seeking to strengthen in the January transfer window by recruiting a new striker and two wide players.

And according to reports, Solanke is now high on Roy Hodgson’s list after having already been identified as a prime target for David Wagner at Huddersfield.

Wagner is a close friend of Reds boss Jurgen Klopp and will hope to use their old ties to his advantage should a tussle ensue between his club and Palace.

Hodgson has already pulled out of the pursuit for Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi, who is currently on loan at Valencia, though Benfica’s Luka Jovic (on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt) could also be an option.

Palace are aware that both Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend are being monitored by a host of other clubs due to their impressive form this season and are lining up potential replacements in the wide areas.

With Christian Benteke and Connor Wickham both struggling at Palace, a loan move for Solanke could represent good business for both the London-based club and the player, who hasn’t featured for Liverpool this season.
