Tottenham thumped Everton 6-2 at Goodison Park on Sunday evening and after Manchester City dropped points, Spurs moved within two points of the champions but Pochettino still thinks his side have work to do to be truly considered as title challengers.

Liverpool are top of the Premier League and are four points clear of Manchester City and with the Sky Blues hosting the Reds at Goodison Park on the 3rd of January, there is a chance they can go seven points clear with a win away from home.

Pochettino, whose side was absolutely rampant against Everton, played down talk that Spurs are in a title race as they closed the gap with City to two points.

“Tottenham are definitely title contenders, providing they keep Harry Kane fit,” he told Sky Sports after the match.

“They have to win something this year. In 20 years no one will remember that they played lovely football.

“In 27 years Spurs have won two league cups, that’s where my love for football started. Big clubs have to win things and Tottenham are a big club.”
