Klopp praises “high-class” Nathaniel Clyne after United performance
Jurgen Klopp has praised Nathaniel Clyne after his solid performance against Manchester United on Sunday.
The right-back played his first Premier League game of the season in Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Jose Mourinho, who was today sacked as United boss.
It was a particularly special match for Clyne as he notched 100 games for the Reds by taking part, and his manager didn’t allow the achievement to go unacknowledged.

“Clyney is a high-class player,” Klopp said prior to the match, according to LiverpoolFC.com.
“He didn’t play for a while, that’s true, he was injured and we had other options in the position. That’s how life sometimes is, it’s not really fair but it was the situation.
“But he trained most of the time without any complaints. In the last two to two-and-a-half weeks he had a couple of problems, but he’s available now. He’s fine.”
Clyne put in an assured performance, filling in for Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez and James Milner, one of whom would have started at right-back had they been fit. The No. 2 put in four successful tackles and won seven of his nine duels throughout the match – impressive stats for a player with so little game time under his belt.
After the match, Klopp praised Clyne’s performance: “Nathaniel Clyne… mid-December, first [league] game of the season after an injury and a difficult period, not playing even if you are fit. What a game.”
