Wayne Rooney believes Manchester United need to follow Liverpool’s model when it comes to finding a permanent manager

Former Red Devil Wayne Rooney believes that Manchester United need to follow Liverpool’s model and find a permanent manager that plays a similar brand of football to Jurgen Klopp’s.

The Reds have improved every season under Klopp since he arrived on Merseyside in 2015, and Manchester United have declined.

Liverpool are currently four points clear at the top of the Premier League table, whilst Manchester United are 19 points off the Reds sitting in sixth place.

Due to the gap, Jose Mourinho was sacked following Liverpool’s victory over the Red Devils a week ago, which saw the Old Trafford club turn to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to take over the managerial role until the end of the season.

Rooney believes going forward that his former club need to follow the model Liverpool did when they signed Klopp.

“I think Jurgen Klopp looks like a dream to work for and we’re talking about Manchester United – that’s a manager that Manchester United need to get in – that style and that philosophy,” said Rooney, as reported by the Manchester Evening News.

Rooney also went on to say that United need a manager that the team will play for, which is what he sees from the current Liverpool side under Klopp.

“From the outside all the players love him, all the fans love him. You want to go and play and win because it means so much to him,” said Rooney.
