Official: Liverpool Midfielder Joins Blackpool
Matty Virtue has moved to the League One side on a permanent deal.
Liverpool have announced that academy graduate Matty Virtue has officially joined League One side Blackpool today for an undisclosed fee, marking the second Reds’ exit on deadline day following an earlier loan deal for Liam Miller.
“I’ve learnt loads at Liverpool and have loved my time there,” Virtue noted of his move in search of regular playing time as he looks to make a career for himself down the league pyramid. “Now it’s time to go and get my career started.”
Virtue joined Liverpool’s academy as a U11 player after starting out at Chelsea, where he played until he was nine, spending the next decade playing his way up through the levels with Reds before joining Notts County on loan last season.
This past autumn, the 21-year-old Virtue was back at Liverpool and named captain of the U23s, but a place in Liverpool’s first team never seemed on the cards for the youngster and so a move to Blackpool now seems for the best.
Hopefully the League One level will give him the opportunity at regular playing time and the chance to grow as a player.
