Rumour Mongering: Divock Origi to Fulham

The Belgian international is linked with a permanent move to the London club

It’s not surprising that the January transfer rumours are coming for Divock Origi again, especially given the lack of playing time in his Liverpool future. According to The Mirror, Claudio Ranieri’s Fulham is interested in the 23-year-old Belgian striker to the tune of £15m. Ranieri has apparently been promised even more funds this transfer window to drag the team slightly higher than their current 19th position in the league, and some of that money is (apparently) earmarked for Origi.

Ranieri and Fulham could definitely use Origi to bolster their attack, which currently consists of Aleksandar Mitrović and no one else. However, it’s unclear if Liverpool would be willing to accept only £15m for Origi when they were asking for around £25M over the summer.

It also isn’t entirely clear if Klopp and the Reds will be willing to part with Origi, who has had moments of brilliance this season, including his heroic goal against Everton last month. Origi may also want to stay at the club for the rest of the season, taking his opportunities to come in off the bench and (hopefully) leave in the summer with a trophy in hand.

It seems plausible that Fulham will make an offer for Origi before January is over, but it doesn’t seem very likely that Origi will trade being on the bench during a potential title-winning run for being on the bench at a club that’s in the relegation zone.

Still, if the move does end up happening, remember: we’ll always have the derby winner.
