Liverpool and Chelsea set to battle Barcelona for prolific forward this summer

Liverpool and Chelsea are reportedly set to battle Barcelona for Luka Jovic this summer as both sides eye attacking reinforcements.

Daniel Sturridge’s contract expires at the end of the season and there is no intention from Liverpool to offer an extension plus Divock Origi will be departing in search of more game time so Jurgen Klopp will be on the lookout for more firepower up front.

Timo Werner is reportedly one of the Reds’ top targets but they will face fierce competition from Bayern Munich to sign the German international.

According to the Metro, Chelsea have “upped the ante” and have submitted a bid worth €45million (£39m) for Jovic.

Eintracht Frankfurt have made it clear that they plan to exercise their right-to-buy clause as part of their loan agreement with Benfica.

While reports from Spain had indicated Jovic had agreed personal terms with Barcelona, it appears as though the race sign one of Europe’s hottest talents is still on and Liverpool are in the mix if reports are to be believed.
